Blazing Summer Artists
By:Yanara Porter

As if summer of 05' isn't hot enough, we have fresh artist heating up the radio. Breakout artist are coming from all around the world. Either they make you feel good, turn the music up, or welcome you to one of the most grittiest places on earth.

We're gonna start it out with the crowned " Princess of the Roc", Teairra Mari. This 17-year old Detroit native went to the High School for Fine and Performing Arts. This is the same school the late Aaliyah graduated from in 1997. She has reached #9 on the R&B and Hip-Hop Billboard chart as of August 5.   L.A Reid signed her when she was 16. Her LP "Roc-A-Fella Records Presents: Teairra Mari" is in stores now.

Lyfe Jennings didn't exactly have such a joyous and easy path to success. He was sentenced 10 years for an arson charge in 1992. It was in prison where he became dedicated to music.   Lyfe is a native to Toledo, Ohio and comes from a rough and hustling neighborhood.   We are hearing a lot from Jennings now but his album "Lyfe 268-192 was really released Aug 3 rd of last year. Only three months after he was released from prison, he was on amateur night at the Apollo with five continuous victories.

This Barbados native has impressed plenty of people, including founder of the ROC, Jay-Z. Rihanna just moved to the U.S earlier this year and was already signed to one of the most successful urban record labels in the country. The 17-year old did one small audition for Jay-Z and a multi-million dollar contract was signed the same day. Rihanna's producer is Steven Rogers, they met in St. Michaels, Barbados, her birthplace. Rihanna's album will debut on August 30 th .   She is already #2 on the Hot 100 Billboard chart, right below Mariah Carey.
