This dynamic lawyer and amazing talk show host was born Starlet Jones on March 24, 1962 in Badin, North Carolina.


One of the toughest district attorney’s New York City has ever seen and one of the realest voices in Hollywood, Star Jones truly shines at whatever she does. Star raised by her grandparents while both of her parents attended college. Always understood the importance of education, so it was no surprise that she was a straight A student throughout most of her elementary education. It was that type of academic excellence that landed her into the prestigious American University in the nation’s capital Washington, D.C.

It was at American that star embarked on her love for the law. A top student in her class and an active member on her student council, Star was well known on campus.

She even joined the prestigious African American sorority Alpha Kappa Alpha (where she was given the nickname “star”) and the gospel choir. However, the road to success hasn’t always been easy for Star. In her senior year of college, while in bed one night star felt a sensation in her chest and was rushed to the hospital by her roommate. She was diagnosed with inoperable tumor and given nine months to live. However, star refused to take this as an answer and ordered a second opinion.

She was then told that she the tumor was indeed removable and it was removed. She then went on shine as a student in law school at the University of Houston. She took the New York City bar exam, which she aced the first time around and immediately landed a job at the District Attorney’s office in Brooklyn. After three years of working for the at the D.A.’s office and gaining a reputation as one of the fiercest lawyers there, fame came calling for Jones and she answered the call.

In 1991, Court TV called the D.A.’s Office looking for a legal commentator. They got Jones. BY 1992, Star was a star and a legal correspondent for NBC’s the “Today Show” during the O.J. Simpson Trial. Still climbing higher she was given her own Syndicated courtroom show before they were considered popular it was called “Jones & Jury” where she served as both judge and host.

But it is Star’s stint on the morning talk show “The View” that has kept her in the spotlight. “The View” a daily talk show featuring Barbara Walters and three other intriguing women. The show which serves as a catalyst for Star and the four other women to focus on women’s issues from a diverse perspective. Star has risen to every goal she has set for herself and matched it with unprecedented success. She is an accomplished lawyer, talk show host, and author. Penning her own autobiography “If You Have to Stand for Something or You’ll Fall for Anything” which deals with her rise to fame and pride in her size as a plus size woman. Star Jones is at the place she always saw herself and plans to stay there for as long as she wants.
