A Letter From the Editor in Chief,
Danya Steele

If there was ever a time to grow, it’s now. If there was ever a NEED to grow, it’s now.

The HL teens I work with are incredibly smart, enthused, and anxious; quintessentially, if there was ever a pool of such potential, you guessed it.... it’s NOW!!! However, if there was ever the vehement need for fiscal assistance within a program that has been running successfully for nearly six years on a shoe string budget, it was YESTERDAY.

My point is very simply this: We need your help.

Stagnant behavior is unattractive to the long term philosophy of HarlemLive's future. By remaining in the space that we are currently in, we are actively accepting a stagnant level of progress and success. We are essentially being forced to limit what cannot be limited -- the young mind, passion, innovation, creativity, and heart. We are prolific. We are maturing.

This upsurge of growth is within us all. Therefore, it's only NATURAL for us to want to progress, grow, and elevate to "The next level."

You can aide in that elevation.

With new emerging sections including controversial debate topics like “What is racism”, an undercover video documentary project delving into the experience of what it is to be a homeless teen in NYC, as well as a brand new “Life In The City” project assisted by CNN and other sources, we’ve simply come too far to stop now.

We need your help.

Sincerely,

Danya R. Steele
