Review:
Buckle up for one hell of a 2.5 hour rollercoaster ride! Harry Potter: the Chamber of Secrets is somewhat different from The Sorcerer's Stone in its intensity. The Chamber of Secrets grabs your attention from beginning and doesn't let go until the end, unlike the first episode of the sequels.

Quick Links::

It is intense in scenes that make you want to crawl under your jacket yet you are unable to close your eyes. With eyes wide open, you watch it to see what happens next. The Sorcerer's Stone is full of unexpected twists; you will never be able to figure out the ending (unless you've read the book).
I warn you, if you're scared of spiders or snakes, you might have a heart attack. Of course, it's probably not as bad as 8 Legged Freaks and the spiders in Potter don't look that real, but the spider scene is still pretty creepy. It wasn't the only scene which may upset children. The flying quidditch match was more intense; there was writing on the wall in blood and some characters were petrified and frozen in fear. You might hear little kids cry: it's no Barney. Unlike the first Harry Potter, where I actually heard some of the people next to me snore, Chamber of Secrets doesn't let you close your eyes for a second.

I haven't read any of the books, so I can't exactly judge about how great the adaptation is. I am concerned, however, that just like in Lord of the Rings, the directors followed almost exactly what was in the book. Some parts could have been made better and some parts could have been cut out all together for the sake of the film and for those that have not read the book.

Those who have read the books have told me that they couldn't have found better actors for the characters. They are just like the reader would imagine them. There are the previous characters, of course, and there are some new ones. They are well developed (which is probably due to the book rather than the director). You can't help but really identify with the Potter posse, and even cheer and clap when the good guys win (although you might find it dumb or silly).
The actors have grown up quite a bit since the first Harry Potter. They are much better at their roles (Hermione is less fake). But, in a way, they are still the same. Harry can't smile whenever he does, his smile looks insincere and evil. His face is frequently sweaty and dirty which begins to bug you after awhile.

Chamber of Secrets shows you some of the familiar places such as the school and the amazing moving staircases, as well as the intense broom-flying game. New special effects are also there imaginative and realistic: blue pixies, screeching root plants (warning: cover your ears!), Dobbie the Elf, the flying car and the invisible ink book, which were all phenomenal.

You will see some changes in the next Harry Potter. It will be directed by Alfonso Cuaron (who directed Y Tu Mama Tambien) and they will have to find a replacement for Dumbledore because Richard Harris (the actor) has passed away last month.

Obviously, the name will be different. I have a suggestion. What do you think of Harry Pooter and the Porcelain Throne for the next movie? Pretty good, huh?
