X-2: One 'X'plosive Movie
by: HarlemLIVE Staff

Friday Night, the majority of HarlemLIVE united to see one of the most anticipated sequels of the year. A total of nine HarlemLIVE members decided to see a late showing (which was well worth it anyway). Below are some reviews that were written by HL members after seeing X-2: X-Men United.

X-men 2 : X-men United is a constant thrill ride that lives up to the hype. This action packed sequel hits the mark on nearly everything you want in a movie. It's funny, dramatic, suspenseful and has enough action to please almost anyone. The special effects aren't ground-breaking, but certainly not disappointing. In fact, like most great movies, X-men 2 was just as, if not more exciting, to watch the second time. From beginning to end, Magneto to Jean Grey, X-men 2 has me believing in Mutant Power!

I'm sorry to say that i've never had a chance to really get involved in the X-men comics at all....I remember having posters and occasionaly watching the cartoon...but I never was a real huge fan like most people at HarlemLIVE. But I have to say, after seeing "X2: X-men United" I REALLY, REALLY REGRET IT!! I already saw the first movie when it came out but I don't recall having this good an experience and enjoying it as much as this one. The action scenes were very exciting and the special effects were great. The one and only thing I didn't like was that the new mutants to appear in X2 didn't do much, if you've seen the trailer than you've seen all of Shadowcat, Syrin, and Colussus' scenes. Of course thats the only thing that's dissapointing...The rest is HOT!

What can I say about a sequel to one of my most favorite superheroes except OH MY GAWD!!!! This movie was so freaking amazing. The intertwining storylines, the acting, and the special effects were all top notch. And the surprise ending, it was all too much for this young buck to handle. I dropped two tears out of my eyes by the end of the movie and my voice was so sore from saying, “Aaaayooooooo!!! Did you see that?!?” This was a great movie that needs to be seen more than once.

Despite the fact that I kept falling asleep during the 'character development' of Wolverine, X-Men 2 is the most action packed movie of the year! I loved the introduction of new characters like Nightcrawler, who is more incredible in this movie than that cheesy character illustrated in the X-Men Evolution cartoon. Point being, X-Men 2 is a must, no matter what age you are. The enjoyment is equally as good as you find yourself reliving the X-Men trilogy 10 times better in the movie theater.

Well... I broke the streak of criticizing movies with X-2: X-Men United. After seeing Phone Booth and Identity, I always found flaws in the movie. So of course, I expected there to be lots of crappy points in X-2. Walking into the theater at 12:45am on a friday night/saturday morning I was expecting to have a little nap time. That was definately not the case. There were some cameos from popular X-men (as I expected). Hank McCoy (Beast) makes an appearance during a brief newscast, as does Jubilee and Gambit (who's name appears in the mutant database). This movie had several plot twists that kept me wide awake, not just for the entirity of the movie, but throughout the whole night! This movie is a must see AT LEAST once.
