The energy I felt in the room that day was so astonishing to experience. I would have never thought that the people in that room would be so heartwarming and full of acceptance.

Dr. Jo Tanner was a very nice person and had deserved every bit of credit she received. Just the thought of a person taking so much time to acknowledge the African- American actresses and dramatists shows a lot of pride in her ethnic background and takes pride in her heritage. She said it took ten years to get the information for the book Dusky Maidens. She had written about the life of the first Black actresses and dramatists in the beginning of the history of black female acting in the United States.

She also explained that there was scarce historical about a many of the actresses and her history or career to feed off of. Because of successful women like Dr. Tanner that we have some   any successful young women in the black community, she is a "prime" example   of what young black women should base there goals on .   the name of her new book is "The Odyssey of Early Black Dramatists". It is basically the break down of the history behind the black actress, and black dramatists   . The book basically involves the careers of the great legends of early black acting   (females). She said that as a under grad in college she reminisces on the fawn memory of the professor's who taught mostly the history of only white actresses.
