Dance by Zandria

Zandria Harrold moved to Harlem in 1995. There, she discovered her fascination with children.

She assisted them after school at a nearby school, and took them on after school trips to zoos, churches, mosques, parks, and libraries. She decided to begin her own program, teaching dance and choreography to youth. She offers classes every Saturday at the National Black Theater on 5th Avenue just north of 125th Street.

Ms. Harrold was born in Houston, Texas in 1972 and raised by her grandparents. She was introduced to arts and music through her church, the Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church. Ms. Harrold became obsessed with the arts before training and studying dance, drama, and choir throughout elementary and high school. In college she performed for the Texas Southern University Basketball team.

After graduating from college, she performed and choreographed for Geto-Boys in 1991. After touring, she moved to New York City in 1992 and became the lead background vocalist for Technotronix (Pump Up the Jam). She became a lead dancer on MTV and made numerous appearances as lead on videos, and appeared in Source, G.Q. magazines and wrote and recorded her first single "Music".

Zandria started her own casting and choreography company MI-Ty-Rion in 1997, training adults and children. All dancers are trained in African, Salsa, Reggae, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Modern, Tap, and Ballet dancing.
