Where's Good Old Harlem?

Currently, the Harlem Community has been going through a transition with more businesses entering the community. So we decided to hit the streets to find out what New Yorkers think about the new developments.

Do they feel that it is helping or hurting the community to have all of these commercialized outside companies and corporations move in on the Harlem Market?

Comment: I think that it is great. We needed more and more exposure. We finally got that and it has helped Harlem. People had bad feeling about coming here.

Comments: It did a 360 degree turn. Its great I'm all for the commercial development. You can see it all along 125th. All you see are businesses. It's helping the people.

Comments: I think its ok to me. Iove got my state ID and everything I think there should be more black owned businesses in Harlem.

Comment: It grew a lot compared to how it used to be. A lot of businesses have come in; a lot of people want to become entrepreneurs.

Comment: It is good for the people; they need this kind of stuff. The people (the Harlemites) need to capitalize on this.

Comment: Well basically the ethnic population is starting to change as far as the African American and Latino community. Right now a lot of different people from around the world are starting to occupy the economy around the area is boosting. Business is being revitalized.

Comment: I think that the government is allowing people to take over our community. We have to stand up and the people have to do something about it.
