On
Thursday, March 31 2005 the new West Side Sports and Convention
center was approved by the state agency that owns the property.
As Jets fans, athletes and officials jump for flamboyant
joy the construction for the stadium is set to begin in
July. New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg believes that New
Yorkers will be the ultimate winners when the stadium is
created. The center still has to be approved by the Empire
State Development. Not to worry, the organization has already
expressed their support in the center.
Many people are still optimistic about the idea of a new
stadium. What they fail to understand is that the stadium
will provide hundreds of jobs for New Yorkers. Individuals
will be allowed the opportunity to invest their time in
something positive. Aside from housing a sports team and
the 2012 Olympics, the $1.9 billion dollar stadium will
help the cities economy growth for years to come. The Hudson
River frontier is highly underdeveloped and the stadium
will strengthen the area surrounding it.
The 75,000-seat stadium will allow the Jets to play in New
York for the first time in a quarter century. While New
Yorkers prepare themselves for pure shock and excitement,
those who still oppose the stadium are in deep dread. Perhaps
it is the issue of overcrowding or pollution that worries
the many committees and civil activists concerned with the
prospect. The Sports and Convention Center will serve as
a concert hall, convention plaza and arena. The most essential
element in building this stadium is that fans are allowed
the opportunity to attend a live game in a clean safe environment.
The stadium will symbolize pure fun, enjoyment, and excitement.
No longer will fans have to make the strenuous commute to
New Jersey to watch their team win or lose. The new stadium
will give the Jets the motivation and drive they need in
order to be a successful team. Instead of sharing a stadium
with fellow New York team the Giants, the Jets will be able
to make to convection center into their well deserved home.
Hopefully the Jets will grace the stadium with a few wins
and maybe even a SuperBowl championship title. The most
anticipated event the plaza will host is the 2012 Olympics.
With the Stadium finally in place the Olympics may finally
get the official to come to New York.
