In this age of e-commerce it is not surprising to find several things from our popular culture fusing with the Internet from movies to fashion to sports and music. It seems like everyone is trying to cash in on global dollars when it comes to world wide web consumers and Kyeshia Kelly is no different. A graduate of Howard University, Kelly always knew she wanted to do something creative and as a civil engineering major she believed that how she would achieve it.

But then her brother Malik proposed that they start a urban clothing business on the Internet and she suddenly she became an online store owner. Kyeshia and her brother figured that they should try approaching a new market of customers via the Internet who did not have access to urban and hip-hop gear. We wanted to give people that had limited access to urban clothing the chance to purchase FUBU and other hip-hop gear, hence Hip Hop Closet.com was started.

Since it's beginning Hip Hop Closet has faced opposition and support from everywhere. Support from friends and family and doubt from potential funders and so called friends. But these obstacles did not stop Kyeshia or Malik from going forth with their dream. In fact it did the opposite. It encouraged them even more to pursue it even harder. Now thanks to their determination they have one of the hottest spots on the Internet to get Hip Hop Gear at a reasonable price. By catering to almost every urban gear designer from Phat Farm to Wu Wear to Wille Esco and selling the latest Rap cd's and magazines like XXL and the Source HHC is one step ahead of most of their online competition.

It has also is one of the most successful online hip hop stores grossing more than 200,000 it's first year in operation. When asked about how the digital divide affects their sales from the urban community Kyhesia comments that it should not stop people from wanting to or trying to get access to computers, people can go to the library or a cyber cafe and use the computers to buy Hip Hop Closet stuff. Kyhesia's advice to all those young black dot.comprenuers out there Stay focused and Be prepared for setbacks because they will come, but stay determined it will happen.
