“I
might've failed to mention that this chick was creative
But once the man got you well he altered her native
Told her if she got an image and a gimmick
That she could make money, and she did it like a dummy
Now I see her in commercials, she's universal
She used to only swing it with the inner - city circle
Now she be in the burbs lickin rock and dressin hip
And on some dumb sh*t, when she comes to the city
Talkin about poppin glo*ks servin rocks and hittin switches
Now she's a gangsta rollin with gangsta b*tches
Always smokin blunts and gettin drunk
Tellin me sad stories, now she only f*cks with the funk
Stressin how hardcore and real she is
She was really the realest, before she got into showbiz
I did her, not just to say that I did it
But I'm committed, but so many n*ggaz hit it
That she's just not the same lettin all these groupies do her
I see n*ggaz slammin her, and takin her to the sewer
But I'ma take her back hoping that the s*it stop
Cause who I'm talking bout y'all is hip – hop”-Common Sense-I

What’s Up? I’m Jessica. I turned 17 on October 31st. I heard
about HL through City-As-School. It’s an alternative school that
is based on Internships and classes. I was looking for an internship that
involved things I was interested in. HL seemed like a positive thing for
me to be involved in. A place where teenagers can get their voices heard.
During the cycle that I am staying at Harlem Live I am going to be working
on Web design, and video, for tech credit. I am planning to stay after
my cycle in city-as and work on other things, like public speaking, journalism,
photography, community building/ networking.
There’s a lot of things that I could get into about myself but to
ease the complexity I’ll fill you in on only the most important
bits and pieces. I go to City-As-School, It’s my last year (hopefully)
And I plan to go to college, nothing too fancy, just something that will
teach me something new and start me in the right direction. I want to
major in political science or psychology. I plan on going places.
I’m really into poetry and writing. I started writing when I was
in the 8th grade, I’m not quite sure what made me want to write,
its sort of just happened.
Yes, I love hip-hop. When I say hip-hop though, I don’t mean bubblegum
rap, I mean real hip-hop. The culture, the lyrics, the history, people
who have some sort of message, I’m not really too big on hearing
about people brag about murda, murda, kill, kill cash and b*tches, cuz
that’s simple, I want someone to bring something new to the game.
I like long walks on the beach and candlelit dinners. Just playin. It
really doesn’t take much to entertain me. What I enjoy most is keeping
myself busy. I’m a really productive positive person. Although I
do try to find time for myself, my peoples, and my fam, its not always
the easiest thing to do. But people still stick by me…that’s
love.
I am a really outgoing, open minded person, and I’ m always trying
to learn new things. I love life, and I plan on doing big things. |
