Through the Eyes of Alicia Keys
This poem was written from the perspective of
Alicia Keys. I read one of her poems [The Shore (You Shore?)] and rewrote it in
my own words but with the same thought she wrote her poem with. I did use some
of her lines so that the poem can actually refer to her work. If there wasn't
any of her work in it, how is it her thoughts?
Staying happy really isn't too
easy,
stress, work it's driving me
crazy.
Each and everyday it gets harder
as the day goes by,
but I am persistent
and determined enough to look at it right in the
eye.
With all this confusion that I feel
inside,
I have become a mess with this
good for nothing guide.
A guide to this
wondrous world I have explored and
experienced,
but maybe I just haven't
looked as it as so serious.
I know that my life isn't a
joke,
but every time that I seem to
think about it, I choke.
I can't
breath, holding on to my life,
No one
can save me, no one but Christ.
I question myself where is the so
visible line?
The line between
"insanity and sanity,
pleasure and
pain,
life and death [and] love and
hate!"
The line is your
mind,
right between your very own
eyes.
The line is made by your own
thoughts,
sometimes it may not be so
visible but look a little harder and you'll find you've also been
caught.
