So I thought
by:Nadjia Jones

I thought your love was amazing
Sincere and bliss
When you swept me away
Stealing my first kiss
My heart would beat faster, harder
As your hands explored my body
You said “I love you”
And that you were feeling naughty
I was afraid at first
Didn’t know what to do
But you said it would be so easy
And just to follow you
I listened attentively
While following your lead
Enjoyment was obvious
Your face I could read
You said “I love you again”
To make this seem justified
You were my lover and my friend
All fears we put aside
It was magical
Life-altering
Love expressed through the physical
Your parents were to return home soon
So I gathered my things
While the radio played our sweet tune
A song I will remember forever
Representing that very special time
We’ve spent together
But as I walked out the door
Knowing your touch I’d miss
I leaned over quickly
To steal a kiss
You turned away
Your face seemed to speak a thousand words
My mind was in disarray
Can’t believe how foolish I was
So blind as a bat
Giving you my heart, my love, all because
I thought your love was amazing
Sincere and bliss
Because you swept me away
And stole my first kiss
