The Road Trip to Success

by Christophe Palmer

Trying your best to get an education
Is your ticket to graduation
And it’s not always easy
Believe me
When driving on the way to prosperity
There are a few curves
But we steered clear and got to where we deserved
We helped each other to see the road signs
and to battle the storms
We helped each other to excel,
to entertain and perform
Congratulate yourself
for making it all this way
Keep it up to see more days like today
Good friends are like windshield wipers
helping you to see
So keep your promise to your friends
when they say “never forget me”
It took a well driven vehicle
to make it and to learn
I’m proud of those who started their cars
and didn’t crash and burn
Because the road to success is not straight
There are curves çcalled rebellion
A loop called self doubt
Speed bumps called peer pressure
Red lights called fear
Caution lights called friends
And you will have flats called chores
and you’ll hit pot holes called bad decisions
But if you have a spare tire called motivation
A seat belt called dedication
An engine called confidence
Insurance called loyal allies
Someone sitting in shotgun who you can count on
the whole long road of life
On the highway to your OWN goals
But with the knowledge to know when to take advice
from the people in back seat, your mentors and teachers
You the driver will reach a destination called success
We’re all on our way there
And we’ll make it
cause we’re BLESSED“Keep on driving to success and I’ll see you on the road.
I’ll miss you guys, all of you. I’ll never forget ya’ll, none of you. I love ya'll.”
