Black Panthers Arise
by:Janelle Jemmot

This is a private invite to all of those,
Who spend their time watching hip-hop shows,
Who ditch school for a dangerous life of crime,
Who wasted ten years of their life doing time,
Who have reasonably been stopped by the cops,
Who ran for cover when they heard that pop,
For those who travel the streets fifty deep like the mob,
Who made the street corner their home and job,
Who ever snatched a purse because their hungry and need a meal,
Who think  THEY don't know how you feel.
Who can't pronounce all their words quite correct,
To those who the law doesn't protect,
To those trapped in  the skin like mine,
Dark and lovely and oh so fine.
My brothas and sistas we've bound too long,
And we have yet to sing our freedom song.
