I Am Angry and Confused

a short commentary by Michael Lynch of HarlemLive

I am angry and confused because we still have to justify ourselves to others. Why do we still have to justify our rights to be in this country? Why do we have to explain the way we look and act? I think that we need equality. If they were to do these things to people of color, they should also do the same to other ethnicities. African Americans have been mistreated even since before they were taken form their country to be slaves.

For centuries people have discriminated against blacks because they were considered different. Throughout history, it has been proven that people are afraid of things that are different. This may just offer one possible suggestion to the inequality we see today.
