Ashanti:
Concrete Rose

Def Jam/The INC
9-4
“Don’t Leave Me Alone”
PAR1⁄2

On the album’s intro, Ashanti claims that Concrete Rose, her third album is her best album thus far. I wouldn't be so quick to jump to that conclusion if I were her, the previous two albums were both pretty good. One thing I can say about Concrete Rose is that this is by far Ashanti's strongest vocal performance. This is also her most diverse album. The 24 year old tried everything from edgy beat driven tracks like Only You and Turn It Up to Love Ballads like Every Lil’ Thing. The album is packed with disappointing throwaway songs and four skits (way too much for an R & B album) but she does her thing on songs like Don't Leave Me Alone which help make up for it. Ashanti also gets help from Seven Aurelius (produced Hush, LL Cool J) who produced most of the album, T.I. and fellow I.N.C. label mate Lloyd who joins her on Take Me Tonight a Southside type duet.
