“Ain’t Gon ‘ Beg You”
PAR1⁄2
I'm not one to watch American Idol
but 2004's champion Fantasia received rave reviews. The
twenty year-old songstress has a wonderful voice and she
possesses the ability to capture any audience. Her album
doesn't necessarily have the same affect. The album does
have some great songs but overall Free Yourself didn't move
me. Fantasia has three to five different singles or so it
seems, depending on where you are you might hear Truth Is,
I Believe, Free Yourself or Baby Mama. All of them are good
tracks but the album doesn't continue with the flow of the
singles. There are too many people involved on this project
and too many different sounds for a debut album. It's nice
to know that she can be versatile but the album should've
been a bit more focused. Free Yourself is not that the album
you get your romance on to, and it's not the album you get
your party on to but it's something you get your think on
to. The slow true R & B ballads are hot but those fast
paced hip-hop edge tracks just don't do it for me.
