"Fight For Your Rights" Racial profiling and police brutality are tragedies. The main segment of the populaton it hurts are minorities, such as elderly, Hispanics and Blacks. Because of racial profiling and police brutality, minorities can grow up with hate towards the world. "If this happens then the future of the world is hate" says, Chris Johnson the coordinator of the New York City Youth Summit on People Police Brutality. Among the speakers at the summit was Bob Perry an attorney, who said "that the only way really to end police brutality and profiling is to report any and every case." Many people at the summit were not beaten, whipped, or even physically hurt but expressed their views of police corruption very seriously. So I can't even imagine the thoughts of police brutality victims. Since Mayor Guiliani has been mayor, police violence has decreased but it still poses a threat to young minorities.

Harlemlive participated in a Police Brutality Meeting. Many things were accomplished at the meeting such as, letters were forwarded to the New York City Police commissioner stating that enough is enough and racial profiling and police brutality will not be accepted. At the gathering there were about 40 to 50 people expressing there opinions about the New York City Police Department. One attendee of the meeting was Jerry Johnson who stated "police officers should be here to address the issues of the concerned public." I do think that the New York Police Department is corrupt but unfortunately i don't know how corrupt, Ms. Johnson said.

By doing your part, you can help end police brutality. Experts say when stopped by police to keep your hands in sight of the officer, remember the officers police badge number and try to answer the officers if any questions completely. And above all do not resist arrest because then a officer has a mandate allowing him to use force.
