"We need to unite not only during a time of devastation but also a time of joy."

As one stands on 14th Street in New York City they may see that people continue on with their lives. People still do their everyday activities such as skate boarding, work, shop, drive, and exercise.

Then one may go to Union Square, were Broadway and 14th Street meet and one may here near complete silence. Then they'd see people there lighting hundreds of candles for those who are injured or who have died during Tuesdays terrorist attacks. One may stand there and realize that there are thousands of people that are still missing. Then they'd walk around and see photo after photo of people that have not been seen since the day of the tragedy. One may feel a grief of sorrow for those who are no longer here with us.

Then one may turn around in the opposite direction and you see that New York is still back to its regular task. While I walk around I see people came and wrote they're thought or quotes from famous people such as Mahatma Gandhi, Mother Teresa, and Albert Einstein. One may see people there trying to raise money to help those that have helped and to those that need help. One may realize a sense of unity between total strangers. People consoling people that they never seen in their life.

Sharon,38 from Long Island said, "We need to unite not only during a time of devastation but also a time of joy."
