By Angel Colon and Damian Browne

Harlem Youth Council, established in 1987, is a non-profit organization whose sole existence is to provide and service young adults with proper skills and guidance towards becoming proud, productive individuals. Harlem Youth Council is found in Harlem, but it's for everyone and anyone who needs work. (contact information)

The H.Y.C is located on the fourth floor inbuilding 2090. Harlem Youth CouncilThe front door looks like an apartment with the tag Harlem Youth Council on it. Inside are chairs and couches with a tiny desk in the corner. Right beside the tiny desk are two offices where the staff may sign you up and can some times have a little chat with you. Both offices over look shoppers and department stores which are always full. When you first enter the H.Y.C you may feel some what closed in because of the small room, but once you meet the people it feels like you known them forever.

Their commitment is to upgrade and enhance our communities future leaders.

The H.Y.C offers on the job training programs for people ages 14 to 25. The programs/workshops are great for learning job skills and these people do get jobs. Some jobs that are given are at Harlem Hospital, Housing Preservation and Development (HPD), housing and others. The jobs depend on the training that you take with HYC.
