After school from 3-9 PM or Saturday 12 am - 8 PM, you will find a center, located West 124th Street between Lenox and 7th Avenue, full of life and energy. With the backbone of Mr. Andre C. McNair and continued help from the community, the Executive Director this center will strive to greater heights. This center "Will prepare our youth and adults spiritually, academically, recreationally, and socially for the 21st century."

The center, named after Bishop W.L. Bonner, Pastor of the eighty year old Greater Refuge Temple, provides kids and teens ranging from ages 12 to 19 with a variety of activities to keep them occupied.

Twelve year old Rashad Norris has been a member for a year. He comes to play basketball for his team, small fries, after school and sometimes on weekends.

Nineteen year old Jeremiah Maxwell and 14 year old Raheem Norris have been members of the W.L. Bonner Enrichment Center for almost a year. They are part of the junior basketball team.

Other recreational programs are womens basketball, volleyball, and weight lifting, roller skating, aerobics, Boxing, Karate, Whiffle Ball, Tennis, Ping-Pong, Table Games, Board Games, Field Trips and Much More.

The W.L. Bonner Enrichment Center also provides academic Programs for their members. "For Less Than $19 a Day Your Child Will Not Have To Repeat the 4th Grade!" This center provides plenty of fun activity and wants to promise an educational environment. After school, the members of the center are not allowed to lie around then play ball. All homework must be done. Then they receive the privilege to play b-ball. But do not let me mislead you, the academic program is for adults also.

The academic programs include am adult learning center, GED Program, Money Management, Job Search, Career Path, Interviewing Preparation, Single Parent Classes, Health and Well Educational Series, Literary Club, Youth Development Culinary Arts and a Referral Center.

Executive Director, Mr. Andre C. McNair, graduate of Fordham University, holds a name that has many hats. He practices medicine during the day and volunteers at the Enrichment Center later in the day. The Center holds a very big impact on the Harlem community and many are grateful.

In the future, many great things are going to happen for The W.L. Bonner Enrichment Center. Keep an eye on HarlemLive, Because we want to be there informing the community on ever move they make.
