Sometimes we have to ask ourselves whether there is a God out there. Today I've realized that there is such a Supreme Being. The reason I've been able to boost my faith in God is because of a man who went through hell and back. He is not just a man, but a warrior with a vision to change and prevent others, especially the youth, from falling into the dark and "judge less hole" that he fell into from a tender age. This "judge less hole" is drugs, the substance that can cause vital damage to the mind, body and maybe even the soul. The name of this man is not important, but the message he has is critical, and it is crucial that parents take heed in this millennium. Normally, someone who has been under the influence of drugs , would never be able to recover without certain repercussions. Well this man came to us in the figure of someone who was perfectly healthy and showed us pictures of his body drained of most of its humanly essence.
The name of this man is Scot Anthony Robinson. This man is the founder and director of the Vision Warriors program which he created after he recovered from his struggle with drugs. He uses the word Vision because his goal was to empower the youth and Warrior because of his great struggle with drugs Helen Keller once said, "Is there any thing worse than blindness?" she responded "yes a person with sight and no vision". This quote is what inspired him after he returned from rehabilitation. He said that if it wasn't for a" joint" he smoked at age eleven, the majority of his hardships he faced would not have happened. He said his rehabilitation gave him an extra edge on life. During his this period he learned that thought creates feelings or lessons, called Rational Emotive Therapy(RET). He said his main reason to get off drugs was God, but he realized others were getting hurt because of his actions. His girlfriend and mother were amoung the victims of the drug manifestation within him. His main burden was being accepted by others as an equal. He said most of his friends were either in prison or still homeless. The others were well adjusted people living drug free lives. His friends from the past still view him as "Scot the drug addict." Robinson in his spear time visits many schools and tells them about his past, he sometimes gets laughed at by those that doubt him. Others, however feel sadness about hearing of his many experiences.
Now that he is active in educating youth about the devastation of drugs, he says the love in the eyes of his fiance and the interest felt by his audience empowers him not to turn to drugs. He says people must develop their own character and goals. One thing that is left as a reminder to us is that education is the primary goal to succeed. The obstacles youth may face are peer pressures, lack of attention from parents and dysfunctional families. He was a actor before he became addicted to crack and and he would still like to persue being a Media artist as well as running these programs. A dancer who can articulate theirselves would be an ideal student to him and (could) also be part of his educational film which still needs funding.
Here are the final words of this man which states: "There's a journey and in that journey you will find your struggle but only with wisdom can you overcome this struggle yet not to fulfil the journey". -- Scot . . .
