Can Reparations Cause Conflict?

To introduce reparations as a topic to the public and ask them questions about it, one must understand what the subject reparations means. The definition of reparations basically is compensation. In the case of African-Americans, many descendants feel that their ancestors should have not been exposed to such harsh treatment such as being enslaved, raped, and murdered to name a few without having some sort of land or money being owed to them. This is mainly what the topic reparations is all about, should a race of people receive compensation for the way their ancestors were treated.

In order to understand the necessity or morality of reparations for descendants of slaves, many individuals must first be able to realize slavery can affect people long after the slavery has ended, and slavery can also benefit descendants of slave drivers long after the slavery has ended.  Those individuals must also be able to realize slavery and oppression can exist in forms not as clearly visible as whips, chains, and cotton fields.

1. Do you know what the topic reparations means?
Nah, I watch T. V. and haven't seen it or any major politicians talking about it. Though I have heard about it a few times when my mom talks to her friends.

2. Are you in favor of it and why.(After explaining what reparations means)?
I don't know, because it really wouldn't be fair to other races. People will always need money and if one race of people would get money just for having ancestors who were slaves would make allot of individuals look down upon blacks.

3. How do you think reparations will affect other races?
I think they will start to become envious.

4. If you were of a different race do you believe you would have the same cares, and why?
Nah, because my history would affect my views. And also when someone is making money just for being alive and I'm not, I would be very angry.

1. Do you know what the topic reparations means?
Yes, well I think it was through my mom and through a couple of new papers that I actually began to understand what reparations towards African-Americans mean.

2. Are you in favor of it and why? (After explaining what reparations means) Yes, because my family has a long line of past slaves, and I don't think it would please them if they were not compensated for the harsh treatment they had to endure.

3. How do you think reparations will affect other races? - I think the white people won't be too happy, but it will benefit a lot of people because down the line everyone has some sort of Black in their family.

4.If you were of a different race do you believe you would have the same cares, and why? - My personality is that if someone is being held in bondage they need justice.

1. Do you know what the topic reparations means? - Yeah, I read it on the news. And I have learned a definition term from school.

2. Are you in favor of it and why? (After explaining what reparations means). Yeah, because it's only right. African Americans have been going through a lot of hardships. I think it's time, for Blacks to have something positive granted to them.

3. How do you think reparations will affect other races? - I don't think it will affect other races mainly because people know the topic mainly affects blacks, and they understand that Blacks don't have many things so why not give this to them.

4. If you were of a different race do you believe you would have the same cares, and why? - Knowing the time and age they will I think I would have the same views, because justice should not favor a race.

1. Do you know what the topic reparations means? Yes, through reading I have become familiar with the whole topic of reparations.

2. Are you in favor of it? (After explaining what reparations means). Definitely, everyone else gets it. Why not us? Many of the Jews got it; it wouldn't be fair to give reparations to one race of people.

3. How do you think reparations will affect other races? - Who cares! Jesus got it.

4. If you were of a different race do you believe you would have the same cares, and why? - Yeah, basically I would want it because it's rights.

1. Do you know what the topic reparations means? Yes, through my school in history class.

2. Are you in favor of it? (After explaining what reparations means). Nah, it happened it's over. It's too many opportunities for white people to down us.

3. How do you think reparations will affect other races? I think other races especially Whites will look at us (Blacks) differently and also in a negative way.

4. If you were of a different race do you believe you would have the same cares, and why? Of course, I have a big heart, and it goes out to who ever is in a bad position in life.

1. Do you know what the topic reparations means? Yes I do and very well, if I might add, I have been aware of the reparations topic for a very long time, because this ides of giving back to the Black race in no new idea.

2.Are you in favor of it and why.(After explaining what reparations means) Yes indeed I am in favor of reparations, but see people need to understand that just giving back money is no way to give back to our race. To say that your sister was raped and then t compensate you, you received money, it's a crazy idea.

3. How do you think reparations will affect other races?
Really I don't give a damn. I'm for the Black man first and who ever later. But I believe reparations should be taken and not asked for.

4. If you were of a different race do you believe you would have the same cares, and why? I would still have the same feelings, because like I said, no matter what race I'm in, I still think the Black man should receive first, so yes I'm a little racist.

1.Do you know what the topic reparations means?
Well, in a way I do know what the topic reparations mean, but i'm not to clear on what the purpose of it is.

2.Are you in favor of it and why.(After explaining what reparations means) Yes indeed I'm in favor of reparations because, my and your ancestors and past ancestors died in many struggles, so that we might have a fighting chance into job place and in society in general.

3. How do you think reparations will affect other races?
Honestly, I think other races will be very angry because not only have Blacks been going through struggles but so have other races, so they might say why not us, why can't we be compensated.

4. If you were of a different race do you believe you would have the same cares, and why? I think I wouldn't have the same views or cares, because my culture and beliefs have influenced how i look at and approach things, so I guess if I was a different race I might not say I would be for reparations.
