Occupation: Life Guard

Residence: Harlem

What is the race of your current doctor? African American

Do you feel there are a lack of professionals of color serving the inner city population? Yes I do because the schools and the education system have not been producing many professionals. We have to work on recruiting black doctors and dentists in NYC as well as the United States, rather than bringing them from overseas. Downtown, uptown you do not see many African Americans or minorities.

Would you be more comfortable with the a person of color servicing you, say in a doctor's office? It does not matter, as long as they do the job correct.

Do you feel you have enough of a choice in choosing the people who service you?

No I did not choose my doctor, because I am on The Hip Plan. But if you're that type of picky person than I do believe that you should have the option to choose who you want black, white, Hispanic, or whatever.

What is the race of your current doctor? African American and the other doctor is white.

Do you feel there are a lack of professionals of color serving the inner city population? Yes I do because it is a lack of resources. In order to try and increase the number of blacks in this field we need to encourage more of our youth to go into the medical practice and support our black doctors by frequenting their offices.

Would you be more comfortable with the a person of color servicing you, say in a doctor's office? Oh Definitely! I just think there are issues concerning our community that need to be addressed and they would be more familiar with, such as biological differences.

Do you feel you have enough of a choice in choosing the people who service you?

No, because we normally get a list to choose our HMO and that is who you have to go with. Unless you go out of your care service and pay extra money.

Do you feel you have enough of a choice in choosing the people who service you?

Really never had a choice when I was young, I had Asian Americans I feel that I have a choice I think as you get older and mature you start to realize the difference in service
