True Empathy

Because the world brings tears to my eyes and heart
These are the actions I must impart.
If the pain of life is pinching your soul
Then let it be my curse to behold.
If your heart is aching from a loved one lost
Then break my heart to pay the cost.
My pain is a cheap price to pay for your smile
So let me hold your burdens a while
Put me in the bondage of the hurts you feel
Take my happiness in exchange with this deal.
Because I can not stand to see you sad
I’d give my everything to make you glad
I don’t know of peace if your tears are falling
My ear's attentive to your urgent calling
Your injuries are my achilles heel.
Your wound, and cuts are what I feel
Your death is my death to die
How could I ever let you feel pain ?
How could I not share your stain ?
That’s how Christ was when he took our places
Now I have his heart and fire
And have inherited many unselfish desires
And because this is a creed that could never end
I promise this to my family, my future wife and any loyal friend
