Delays

This is the first day out of the U.S. We boarded the plane at about 6:15. We were delayed for about 1 hour and 45 min. The reason being that it was raining and the weather conditions were bad. We ended up leaving at 8:00 PM.

Now, the it's the next day. I'm in a Bucharest, Romania. It's about 12:30 PM or 6:00 AM New York time. There is a specific event that prompted me to do this journal entry. We are having a hard time with the Romanian people or at least the people in the airport. First they wouldn't let Brandon outside of the arrival section of the airport because his passport says that he's only a permanent resident, not a citizen. Of course we found this out at the last minute when we went through passport control.

We had to leave Brandon and re enter the airport at the departure section. When we got halfway, we realized that we didn't have the boarding passes to get into the departure section. The biggest problem was that people here didn't know what we were talking about. The whole problem would have been solved had we been able to just stay with Brandon in the arrival section. The man or guard wouldn't let us do that.

Anyway we had to walk all the way around, when we got to the departure place. There, we had some drama.

The lady behind the desk wouldn't listen to anything Mike had to say. (Michael Webb is director of IYLI). He disappeared for awhile and apparently someone let him go find Rosa who had the tickets. He came back and the whole mess was straightened out.

From this experience, I've seen how some Romanian people act. I don't want to generalize but that's what I'm moving toward. The people I saw Mike talking to were impatient and rude to a certain extent. I know that all Romanian's aren't like that because I know one personally. When I worked at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City, there was a Romanian there. Danielle Sander was the nicest and sweetest. She had a good sense of humor, too.
