Today we went to see the Pyramids. They were AWESOME! Along with the pyramids we saw the Sphinx. It wasn't as big as I thought it was. We had the opportunity to go inside the Pyramids.

t was sort of a disappointment because there was nothing inside. It took a lot of serious exercise to get there. We had to walk bent over down this ramp. There weren't steps just a long plank of wood with upraised planks used as steps. It was hot. By the time I was a quarter of the way down, sweat was pouring down my temples. It wasn't as bad as I expected it to be. One could say that it wasn't worth it because there was nothing to see once we got all the way down. On the other hand I was thrilled that I was actually in a PYRAMID!

Once we were down the tour guide told us that we were standing in a block of brick. There was enough room in there for about 50 people or more. It was one block and it was huge. I couldn't help but wonder what genius had a) constructed such a wonder and b) how they transported it

While we were at Giza we rode a camel. It was really short but I am grateful for the experience. I was so scared when the camel stood up. To my shame, I started cursing. I must have said shit like 20 times I was so scared. We walked up a slope on the camel and we walked back down. I had a picture taken of me on the camel with a background of the Pyramids.

The worst thing was that I was in the front, and I volunteered unknowingly. Brandon was behind me and he was cool. If he felt unbalanced and he fell forward he moved and hit me. If that happened to me I would have fallen off. There were rocks and sand and feces all over that ground. It would have been the worst. All I had to hold on to was this little horn on the stirrup.

When we were getting off, we had to lean back. At least I felt like I was being hurled forward even though I was leaning back. The ride itself was not that bad, in retrospect, but the mount and dismount were horrible.

Overall, the day went well. The Pyramids and the Sphinx were awesome, the camel ride was experienced.

The latter part of the day was something different. We went to an Arabic class. The instructor's name was Akhmed. He spoke really good English and he's nice. He started out with vocabulary and he just quizzed us on that for the two hours. Arabic is so foreign that I really enjoyed the class.

Unfortunately, the activities of the day left me exhausted so for ten minutes I was conked out in the class. On top of that, the air conditioner was on the opposite side of the room so I didn't really feel it. I wasn't consciously hot, but the temperature did add to my falling asleep. Other than that, I was attentive and receptive.

(Come back tomorrow when we post a new entry from Devan's trip to Egypt)
